Editor's review
This application is a complete inventory management system that performs the functions of Purchases, Sales and payments. This system will guide you through the creation of vendors list, purchase orders, products list, receiving lists, sales orders and invoices.
Pros: Golden Inventory system manages inventory of an organization. To do that effectively one has to be able to control purchase, sales and payments, which this package does do. Creation of vendors list, purchase orders, products list, receiving lists, sales orders, invoices, sale and payment receipts etc. that guide the inventory management is helped by the system. This is in addition to product labels with barcodes, work orders for creation inventory assemblies, transfer orders between locations, customers and vendors’ balances and various types of reports for monitoring a business.
Synchronization of data between remote locations is carried out by exchanging XML documents. Data base upkeeps are also maintained by the system. User authorization is at different levels to take care of security needs.
Return material authorization, hierarchical grouping of products for inventory, improved import/export functions to Quick Book has been added in the recent version.
Cons: Though not clearly indicated, looks like this is for inventory management of a trading organization. A manufacturing organization would need a stores function to be implemented to manage the inventory movement of material coming in and getting used in manufacturing.
Even in a trading organization one need to integrate sales forecast as a minimum to be able to plan purchases. In general, it appears to be driven by purchases and sales as and when it happens in an organization and keeping track of material that is within the organization at any time. Even for a small organization this is kind of ad-hoc.
Overall, this application just about meets the claimed requirements. The user interface also is not very convenient. Golden Inventory package meets the standards of 3 stars.
